What exactly is nicotine?
Nicotine is an alkaloid with an evil-smelling, bitter taste, colorless and transparent oily liquid substance. It is similar to the caffeine chemical substance and works by binding to certain receptors in the brain. For example, when nicotine binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nACHRs for short) in the brain, it stimulates the release of "neurotransmitters". The release of this "neurotransmitter" will give us a sense of pleasure, which is the addictive nature of nicotine.
